OPINION: Name Sunshine Coast's grandstand after Ackerman
I DO not agree with Senator Glenn Lazarus' push to rename Sunshine Coast Stadium the "James Ackerman Stadium", but would support a move to rename the main grandstand after the fallen footballer. As a supporter of rugby league I was crushed to learn the young Sunshine Coast Falcons prop was left fighting for life after he suffered a head injury in a tackle. A man with whom I was the same age, playing the game I played, in a sport I have fanatically supported since I was a child. Sun..

Schablon provides Snakes with master class in cricket
CRICKET: The top sides continued their surge through the Sunshine Coast division one competition on the weekend, when Caboolture's Andy Schablon cut loose with bat and ball. Top four outfits Maroochydore Blue, Glasshouse, Gympie and Caboolture all claimed victories. But it was the traditional heavyweight Snakes which sent a shudder through the ranks of their rivals. For so long a juggernaut on the local cricket scene, Caboolture has not been quite itself for much of this campaign. ..

Sunshine Coast's Allan Pease is Russia's Person of the Year
IT'S not every day an Australian becomes Russia's Person of the Year. Even body language expert Professor Allan Pease didn't see that one coming. His first training session in the former communist society was for new Russian political figures in St Petersburg, which was organised by then deputy mayor Vladimir Putin.
